The realism in Colin McRae Rally 3.0
extends to the tracks themselves. Come off the tarmac and you will cut up
the grass coating your bodywork in mud, and leave muddy tracks in the dirt.
Cause a wheel to spin on a dirt track and dust will go billowing into the air.
The lighting effect are fantastic, sun glints of the windows and you see
scenic reflections on the bonnet and roof or your car.
The cars are just as detailed, modelled using 13,000 polygons
compared to the 800 used to create the cars in Colin McRae Rally 2.0.
In championship mode you are restricted to the Ford Focus. However there are
more models to chose from in the quick start mode, including the Mitsubishi
Lancer Evo VII and the Subaru Impreza WRX 44S. Each will have there own
unique handling specs. the vehicle damage is also spectacular. Tailgates,
doors, bonnets and bumpers are all damageable and in extreme cases
detachable. If the door takes too many hits it ill come off reviling the
detailed interior of your car.
One
of the most impressive effects is the rain, in first person view you don't
just see rain drops but smears across the screen as your wipers do there
job.
So Colin
McRae Rally is shaping up to be as every bit as good as previous editions
and so much more, this is defiantly a game to look out for.
